Software Maker SAP Ditches Annual Reviews: "Germany’s SAP, maker of software used to grade the performance of millions of employees worldwide, is ditching its own annual performance reviews as too expensive, time-consuming, and often demotivating.
Once championed by business leaders as the key to better productivity, annual appraisals are falling out of fashion with companies including IBM, Gap, and even General Electric, whose longtime chief executive Jack Welch is credited with popularizing the system."
The slant made by some media outlets implies that SAP doesn't believe in the processes covered by it's own solution. In fact, many companies are moving away from the Annual Review system, including my own. We just believe that it focuses more on the negative and is reactive in nature... SAP has a similar belief.
