Various system conversion tools are offered to help with your migration to SAP S/4HANA on-premise edition 1511. The tools are split in to 2 categories, namely technical tasks and adoption tasks. These are covered seperately and in detail below.
TECHNICAL TASKS - Lifecycle management tools
Maintenance Planner - checks the system with regards to business functions, industry solutions, and add-ons. If there is no valid path for the conversion it prevents the conversion. (View SAP Help for more details)
Software Update Manager (SUM) - is a technical tool for system conversion to on-premise SAP S/4HANA, applying support packages / stacks, implementing Enhancement Packages and applying new releases - The Maintenance Planner must be run before SUM. (View details here)
2 versions are currently available (SAP Support -> "System Maintenance") : a) Software Update Manager 1.0 SP 24 - SAP Note 2690361- (Guides) - DMO with SUM: SAP Note 2743782 - (Guides) b) Software Update Manager 2.0 SP 06 - SAP Note 2742706 - (Guides), (Blog) - DMO with SUM: SAP Note 2798588 - (Guides) - System Conversion: SAP Note 2798643 - (Guides)
Database Migration Option (DMO) - is a one-step-migration to SAP HANA database for SAP systems. It brings together the installation of the SAP S/4HANA, on-premise software and database migration to SAP HANA. (See intro to DMO blog, Overview Video)
Simplification List (download here) - Allows for better planning and estimation of your path to SAP S/4HANA - Provides functional-level descriptions of the required changes to transactions and solution capabilities in SAP S/4HANA.
Conversion Pre-Checks - are shipped as SAP Notes to the customer and allows customers to find out what mandatory steps they have to carry out before converting to S/4HANA. Customers must implement SAP Note 2182725, and all the related notes attached to it. Run report R_S4_PRE_TRANSITION_CHECKS on every system that you want to convert to SAP S/4HANA, on-premise edition 1511.
Custom Code Migration Worklist - These are based on the Simplification list concept. Before converting you will need to check your custom code against the SAP S/4HANA simplifications. These simplifications are loaded into the Custom Code Check Tool and, after running the tool, you obtain a list of instances where your custom code does not comply with the scope and data structure of SAP S/4HANA 1511, on-premise edition.
